About RYLA 2020
The RYLA Program
The Rotary 7620 RYLA program is an intense 3-day, 2-night leadership training program that is designed to recognize, encourage and further develop the leadership skills of 10th, 11th and 12th-grade high school students who have shown a potential for rendering important service to their schools and communities. The program was first developed in New Zealand and Australia in 1959 to fulfill a need to recognize and develop outstanding young people. RYLA was later adopted by Rotary International and is now held throughout the world.

Important RYLA Information
Rotary District 7620 RYLA Inclement Weather Guidelines
The purpose of this policy is to set out guidelines that the RYLA Committee will appraise, in the event of severe weather conditions, in Edgewater, Maryland, Anne Arundel County, and Camp Letts during the dates of the conference.
In the interest of the welfare and safety of our RYLA participants, severe inclement weather may require canceling, early closing or a delayed opening of the event. If the RYLA conference is canceled due to severe inclement weather, the rescheduled make-up date will be held on March 7 – March 9, 2020. Registered participants or their substitutes should make all efforts to attend the alternative date as refunds will not be issued. Severe weather information for only Anne Arundel County and Edgewater, Maryland will be considered in making a cancellation, early closing and/or delayed opening decisions. The RYLA Committee will evaluate weather sources from Maryland.gov (weather-related road conditions, snow emergency plans, traffic incidents, and events), The National Weather
Service and Accu-Weather.
In the event of cancellation or delayed opening, RYLA participants and
guardians will be contacted by email and/or telephone by 8:00 PM on the
Friday prior to the onset of the conference.
